Low pressure applications (300 psi and below) where you want the valve to close in response to a pneumatic signal. This valve will have a fail open position.
These products themselves do not vent, but the pneumatic signal used to actuate the valves is vented through the pilot. Due to the design, compressed air is not recommended as the actuation air. This is because if there is a failure of the stem packing, compressed air can be injected into the flow stream. To go emissions free with a pneumatic LPCV, it is recommended to use nitrogen gas a supply gas since it is chemically inert.
