A natural gas compressor reduces the space between gas molecules, effectively “squeezing” the gas. This squeezing—called compression—increases the pressure so the gas can be used to aid in gas lift (upstream) or transported down a pipeline (midstream). Some key components of a natural gas compressor are the suction control valve, inlet scrubber, compressor, and cooling fan.
