HSE Intern
Job Summary: The Kimray Internship Program offers students hands-on experience in a professional manufacturing environment. Essential Job Functions:
In addition to a summer project, there will be opportunities to do some of the following, based on project assignment:
- Assist in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities, including research, program development, policy updates, and support for new initiative planning and implementation
- Prepare and maintain documentation, including technical specifications, safety procedures, reports, and internal communications to support HSE programs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across manufacturing, engineering, and administrative departments to support safety strategy, process improvements, and organizational goals
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to understand business operations, identify safety risks, and ensure alignment of HSE initiatives with company objectives
- Support data collection, analysis, and reporting, helping the team make data-driven decisions to enhance safety performance and continuous improvement efforts
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance within HSE operations
- Assist in training and educational initiatives, helping develop materials or deliver presentations under the guidance of the HSE team
- Perform other duties as assigned, gaining exposure to a variety of HSE functions and learning opportunities
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), or a related field.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.
- Demonstrated interest in workplace safety and/or manufacturing environments.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and contribute in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to observe work activities and identify potential hazards and control measures under supervision.
- Willingness to comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Basic understanding of or willingness to learn OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Ability to document observations, incidents, and corrective actions in a clear and accurate manner.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and expectations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive safety, incident, or employee information.
- Comfortable working in both office and shop-floor environments, including exposure to typical manufacturing conditions (general and construction industry operations, noise, machinery, material handling, etc.).
- Reliable attendance and professional work ethic.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative environment.
- Must pass background check and drug screen
