Oil and gas producers use a V-Port Ball Valve to convert a standard on/off ball valve to a modulating ball valve.
Kimray is proud to offer high-quality ball valves and rotary control valves used in a wide variety of industries. These products allows us to provide an expanded array of control solutions for upstream and midstream oil and gas customers.
We offers standard ball valves, modulating ball valves, as well as quarter-turn control valves with large flow capacities.
Converting from Standard Ball Valve to Control Valve
Customers can convert many these valve models from a standard floating ball valve into a control valve for modulating service.
You do this by removing the full ball and inserting a v-port or slotted ball, depending on the process conditions. You can fit these valves with v-port balls with triangular ports ranging from 15 degrees to 90 degrees or slotted balls with slots ranging from 1/64 inch to 1/8 inch.
We recommend v-port ball valves for applications with high flow where you need a minimal pressure drop or tight shutoff. We also recommend them in applications that require a high level of rangeability.
If your process conditions change over time, you can also replace the v-port ball with a different port angle to maintain control.
The 3-piece Tri-Pro Series and Flanged-End Valves can be fitted with a v-port ball and converted into control valves.
